DESCRIPTION OF THE VILLA

Village house with pool near beaches – La Livunati is an elegantly furnished townhouse with light and spacious rooms, a beautiful pool and two generous south-west facing terraces with views across the valley to the Gulf of Policastro. Sandy beaches are just 2 miles away, and the stunning mountain scenery of the Cilento National Park is on your doorstep. Impeccably presented, the villa offers generously proportioned rooms with tastefully selected furniture and high quality soft furnishings. On the ground floor the open-plan layout lends itself to relaxed, sociable living and an indoor/outdoor lifestyle: you also have additional space to relax with your family and friends on the top floor, as well as on both panoramic terraces. The views are lovely – a sweep of green mountains opposite with the village church to the north, and the sea – the stunning Bay of Policastro – to the south. Popular with Italians in the summer, this part of Campania feels very relaxed and undemanding, but if you do want to get to know the area there is plenty here for all. Vibonati is on the edge of the Cilento National Park & Val di Diano (a UNESCO world heritage site) where hiking, canoeing and riding are all on offer. You can explore inland villages such as Teggiano, but don’t miss the waterfalls at Casaletto Spartano, the Ancient Greek site of Velia (close to Ascea), the Certosa di Padula monastery or the spectacular caves at Pertosa. There are boat trips along the coast to see the sea caves (grotte), some of which easily stand comparison to their more famous counterpart at Capri. Fishing and night fishing trips are available too. And the Cilento coast is known for its long sandy beaches, many of which have Blue Flags. A holiday at La Livunati will certainly be one to remember for all the very best reasons.

INSIDER TIPS

What a great villa, right in the heart of this pretty medieval village but only a short drive to the sandy beaches at Villammare – in fact there are nice sandy beaches all along this stretch of the Cilento coast. If you want a change, you can head for other nearby coastal towns and villages such as Palinuro, Marina di Camerota or Maratea. The house itself is very comfortable. If you’re concerned about the heat, don’t be, because in addition to the traditional shutters, air conditioning is available in every room, so even at the height of a southern Italian summer you can stay cool and relaxed here. The nearest restaurant, Ma’Uamma, is just a short walk (200 metres from the door). The caretakers live in the village so they will be on hand to help you with anything you want to know; they also offer a cooking service for those days when you want to eat at home in the most convenient way. You are welcome to help yourselves to the produce growing in the little vegetable garden too!

Top Floor/Mansarda:
Large open-plan living/dining room with a further kitchen area, fireplace, views.

Grounds:
Covered south-west facing terrace with seating & dining table; poolside gazebo with dining table and views over village church which is lit at night. 9m x 4m swimming pool (depth 2.5m, ladder entry). Covered well. Panoramic views across the valley to the village & church and to the sea. Gas barbecue. Steps lead down from pool area (care with children) to a vegetable garden (guests are invited to use the produce for their meals). Parking for two cars. No lawn.

Please note: part of the charm of this villa is its location in the heart of this typical Italian village; this means there are neighbouring villas and the pool is partially overlooked by some of these. The covered terrace is not overlooked.
