DESCRIPTION OF THE VILLA

In a prime location just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Praiano, between Amalfi and Positano, this charming villa offer an exceptional combination of coast and country; a romantic escape yet in the town, close to the coast yet surrounded by a garden which offers privacy and space – a very rare thing indeed on this stretch of the Amalfi Coast.

The large and mature garden offers several different levels with flat lawns, established plam trees and colourful bougainvillea. The pool is set above the villa, making the most of the lovely views across Praiano and the sea. There is also a fabulous summer kitchen and outdoor dining area on this level.

Praiano centre is approximately 10 mins walk offering a great selection of amenities. This is one of the most scenic streches of the Amalfi Coast with winding roads joining the many, picturesque villages built into the steep cliffs. These ancient towns and villages are all criss-crossed with an intricate network of alleyways offering delightful boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Most have a pretty harbour where boats can be hired or scheduled ferries call; the Amalfi Coast must be seen from the sea to really appreciate its glorious combination of natural and man-made beauty.

The closest drop-off spot is 60 steps below the villa entrance. There are also few metered parking slots but it is not convenient to leave a vehicle there long term. The closest free parking area is one mile away. The town of Praiano is at reach, as well as stores and restaurants. Positano and Amalfi are approximately 10 kilometers away.

Some dining options we would like to share with you:

Rosesellinis in Ravello. A michellin awarded restaurant , open for dinner only in the high season. Dine 1000 feet above sea on the terraces.

Next 2 in Positano. Fine dining serving regional cuisine with a contemporary twist.

Il Pirata, Praiano. Built on a rock next to the water. Fresh local food served in a casual atmosphere, a very romantic place at night. Cocktails are also available in the lounge bar.

Da Gemma: 2 minute walk from the main square in Amalfi. Pick a table on the terrcae overlooking the main street. Modern versions of coastal traditional dishes. Staples include Genoese (with meat sauce) and fish soup.

L’Abside, Amalfi. Family run restaurant serving great local food in a casual atmosphere. Outdoor seating on the piazza, regarded as good for children.

Shopping suggestions:

Handmade paper: Amalfi artisans carry on the legacy of local papermakers with quality, unique paper famed around the world. Handmade cards at La Scuderia del Duca, Amalfi.

Local artwork: Original terracecotta busts of women with wild tufts of hair made from dyed sea sponges. Paolo Sandulli, Torre a Mare, Praiano.

Limoncello, a famous liqueur across Italy. Buy some to take home at Pasticerrria Pansa. Dating back to 1930, this shop on Piazza Duomo in Amalfi is a great place to pick up some Limoncello.

ACCOMMODATION

Ground floor:
Open plan living / dining room /kitchen, air-conditioned (TV, DVD, double sofa bed 1.40m at an extra charge) – please request this in advance of arrival), kitchen fully equipped with charming tiling.

First floor:
Accessed via an elevator.
Double bedroom with sea views , ensuite shower room, WC.
Double bedroom, ensuite half bathroom, WC, direct access to to the exterior strairs, leading to the ground floor and swimming pool.
Both bedrooms have air conditioning.

Grounds:
The garden and swimming pool area are located on a level above the villa, accessed via a stone staircase. Poolside outdoor kitchen, outdoor dining and chairs. Poolside toilet with shower room. 60 steps lead from free streetside parking to the villa. 6m x 3m swimming pool (one depth of 1.40m, Roman step entry). Drops in the grounds are mainly fenced. The photos will show the fencing style in place. In some areas a decorative pot is placed in between the fencing. Very young children could get through. As with all our villas in steep places, we advise that children are supervised at all times please.

SERVICES

Included: Maid Service 3 hours per day, 6 days per week. Bed linen and towels changed twice weekly. Air Con. Winter heating. Wi-Fi.

Extras (all to be paid locally in cash): Additional maid service €25 per hour. Additional person using sofa bed €80 per night. Cook €250 per meal, plus sercie & cleaning (cost of food extra. Breakfast 8am-10am (€110 per person per week for Italian style: milk, coffee, bread, croissants, jam, juice, nutella, butter, cereals. €160 per person per week for American style: Italian style + ham, cheese, yoghurts, eggs, bacon).

Cooking package: €1500 including breakfast (food included) plus one meal per day (cost of food extra). Shopping service €50 euros plus cost of groceries. No telephone at this villa.
